This gallery is a collection of photos taken during a bus tour of various sites in Normandy of significance to the D-Day invasion by the Allies on June 6th, 1944. It includes photos taken at the WWII museum at Caen, where there is also a memorial garden dedicated to fallen American servicemen.
In addition, there are photos which document our visit to the outcropping and German fortifications at Pont du Hoc, which sits between Utah and Omaha Beaches.
The visit to the American Cemetery near Omaha beach is captured in the gallery as well as the memorial actually on Omaha Beach.
This day of bus touring was one day near the beginning of the seven day river cruise from the mouth of the Seine in Normandy to Paris. We returned to Le Havre to meet the ship at the end of this day of touring.
