This gallery is a work in progress as I gather photos taken in 2012, process them and place them in this gallery.
Most of the photos are taken from three locations; from the valley in the south of the park with the beautiful rock formations on either side and a river running through it, from the northeast side of the park at higher elevation looking west into the park and the valley, and from various points along the path that leads from the valley floor to the top of Angel's Landing farther north in the Park. The trip up to Angels Landing offered the most breathtaking scenery, but the overcast skies made photography challenging. The benefit of the clouds was that they mitigated the heat and made the long hike up more enjoyable. The concern, however, was that it would rain and would make the last segment of the hike to the very top of Angels Landing too treacherous to attempt. (As it is, that last segment is not for the faint of heart.) Fortunately it only threatened rain and everything stayed dry.
As a bonus for me, the restaurant associated with my motel attracted owners of some vintage cars one afternoon as well as having some attractions of its own - like the mountain lion you see in one photo - and a beautiful view of the mountains.
