This gallery is a collection of photos taken at Gravelly Point, near Reagan National Airport, of the NASA Boeing 747 ferrying the Discovery Space Shuttle to the Washington DC area. The Space Shuttle Discovery, veteran of many space flights was being brought to the Smithsonian's Udvar Hazy Museum to replace the pristine Space Shuttle that was on display. The flight path took it across the Potomac and around the Capitol and monuments, more than once, before eventually heading off to Dulles Airport where it landed and then taxied to the Udvar Hazy Museum. A well advertised event, there were many spectators that were gathered at Gravelly Point as well as other spots along the Potomac near the Mall.
